📖 Contemporary Basque creation and international voices
The evening places young Basque composers front and center with Jon Esnaola's Adara (2023), woven from rich sonic textures, alongside Pablo Franchelli's Surcando un mar de sueños inmemoriales (2017), winner of the 18th Pablo Sorozabal International Composition Competition for String Quartets.
The programme expands with two distinct aesthetics: Alvin Singleton's tense and dramatic minimalism in Secret desire to be black (1998) and György Kurtág's subtle pointillism in Moments musicaux (2005).
🎻 Quatuor Béla and Musikagileak
The ensemble features Frédéric Aurier (violin), Constance Ronzzati (violin), Paul-Julian Quillier (viola), and Alexa Ciciretti (cello). The performance celebrates the lasting vitality of the string quartet, an art form dating back 250 years that continues to engage present-day listeners.
ℹ️ Good to know: Free admission with advance invitation.
