📖 About the exhibition
Corn has historically held a vital role in agriculture and culinary culture across the Cantabrian slope of the Basque Country. In recent years, however, its cultivation and consumption have drastically declined, threatening the survival of traditional varieties shaped over centuries in rural valleys and villages.
Following field research conducted in 2025, 27 local corn varieties were identified, characterized, and assessed according to their risk of extinction. This photographic exhibition presents the findings of that study, highlighting specific varieties, locations, and traits, while also pointing out their current agricultural and commercial potential.
