📖 Family memory, collective history, and imagination

The piece 43º13’44’’N is the result of an exploratory search by author Olatz Gorrotxategi into family and collective memory. It unfolds as a story discovered along the way to another destination, where the mechanisms of imagination step in to fill the voids that memory cannot preserve.

The production recalls the photographs there was no time to take, the ships missed, and the bullets that could never be removed. Conceived as a logbook in the format of performance and documentary theatre, it approaches historical reality as a political biography.

Directed and written by Olatz Gorrotxategi, the piece is performed by Juan Gangoiti alongside Gorrotxategi herself. The visual elements feature camera work and video editing by Indi Costa, built around testimonies from Adolfo Pastor, Angels Berengueres, Carlos Hernández, Francisco Hernando, José Antonio Naves, José Luis Muriel, Julián de la Morena, Kepa Solís, Liliana Aceves, Mireia Arangoitia, Pilar Muñoz, and Xabier Roig.
